The Situation

A community bank in South Dakota had acquired a new branch location and needed it renovated and operational fast. This wasn’t their first project with Modular Furniture Group – they’d already worked together on other branch locations and needed the new space to match the finishes and overall look of their existing branches.

The scope went well beyond just a teller line. The project included a teller station, executive offices, a conference room, break room, lobby coffee bar, and waiting area. Essentially a complete interior buildout.

The Challenge

Two things made this project demanding. First, the timeline. The customer made it clear they needed the branch open for business in a matter of weeks, not months. Second, the finishes and colors had to match what Modular Furniture Group had already built for their other locations. Every piece in the new branch needed to look like it belonged to the same system.

There was also a design challenge specific to the market. Small-town banks operate differently than large urban branches. The greeting area and service flow had to support the kind of personal, face-to-face banking that customers in a small community expect, not a roped-off queue with transaction windows.

How We Approached It

Because Modular Furniture Group had already completed projects for this customer, the team had the finish specifications and design language on file. That eliminated a significant amount of back-and-forth on materials and color matching and let them move straight into space planning and 3D modeling for the new branch.

The modular system worked in their favor here. Components from Modular Furniture Group’s product library could be configured to fit the new space while using the same finish selections that were already proven in the customer’s other branches. The factory began fabrication while design details were being finalized, compressing the overall timeline.

The customer greeting area was designed around the way a small-town branch actually operates – open, approachable, and set up for personal interaction rather than high-volume transaction processing.

The Result

Modular Furniture Group met the customer’s urgent schedule. The branch opened on time with a fully furnished interior that matched the look and feel of their existing locations. Teller station, offices, conference room, break room, coffee bar, waiting area – the full scope was delivered within the compressed timeline.
